Youth Pilgrimage 2015

For the past two decades, the Archbishop of Baltimore has commemorated Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem at the beginning of Holy Week by walking with hundreds of young adults and youth. Carrying palms and a cross, young pilgrims walk the streets of Baltimore and visit holy sites along the way. The young Church will again bear witness to their love of Jesus Christ, pray, and celebrate at Archbishop Lori's Annual Youth and Young Adult Pilgrimage, to be held on Saturday, March 28. This event will include a concert by John Angotti.

Parish youth and young adults are invited to join the Pilgrimage, challenging yourself physically while learning more about your faith and experiencing Jesus in a way you never imagined. The deadline to register is Sunday, March 15, and the cost is $20. Food is NOT provided; each person should bring a backpack, bagged lunch and bottled water.

Register for the Pilgrimage.

The National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) is a massive event held in November every other year. This five-day gathering in Indianapolis brings together some 50,000 teenagers from around the country to sing, dance, praise and worship, and have an unbelievable time. The cost of this trip is about $600/person (including hotel, breakfast, travel, and the conference). Those attending should begin now to raise funds to help offset this cost.

To learn more about NCYC, please visit www.ncyc.info and look at the videos. If you are interested, complete an NCYC interest form which can be found on the Youth Ministry bulletin board in church vestibule. This event is open to all 2015 High School students (Unfortunately those graduating in Spring 2015 are not eligible.).

We will hold several fundraisers over the next nine months. In addition to the Chick-fil-a nights, we plan to host a Paint Nite, a Yankee Candle fundraiser (delivered by Mothers' Day), have a GoFundMe page, and offer car wash weekends in the summer. These fundraisers will directly benefit the attendees. Whatever amount each person raises will be applied to the $600 cost. Our High School Peer Ministers are young people who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation and have a desire to serve their peers as young disciples. They are involved with the planning and presentation of the youth Confirmation program, Youth Drop-In Nights, and various other Youth Ministry programs and activities. Many of these youth participate in youth leadership training such as High-LI (High School Leadership Institute) and JAW (Justice Action Week) sponsored by the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Division of Youth and Young Adult Ministry.
