Music Ministry Overview

Did you ever notice that about half the Mass involves music?  It is integral to our celebrations of the Eucharist for many reasons, but perhaps the most significant is this: Music communicates and expresses what words alone cannot.  We seek deeper engagement of the liturgy through music: songs that help us to ponder and absorb the readings; instrumentalists to offer selections for our meditation; a variety of musical ensembles to lead our singing in a range of styles and genres; and the introduction of special music at all of our Masses.  Our prayer is that we would be open to the work of the Holy Spirit through the music at our liturgical celebrations.

Of course, the efforts of the musical leadership will be for naught unless we are willing to engage ourselves: both in the various music ministries and in our wholehearted participation at Mass.  Just imagine what it would be like if every voice (good or bad) were raised in praise of God's glory and we allowed the music to express all that is in our souls!
