Baptism
Baptismal preparation for parents of infants and
young children: Baptism is the beginning of the faith journey that leads to
everlasting life with God. The Church's preferred time for
baptisms is at Sunday Mass. Baptism establishes a relationship
between your child and the parish community, which is symbolized in
a powerful way by celebrating the baptism at Mass where the parish
can welcome your child into our faith community. Baptisms
(except during Lent) are scheduled during Mass on the second
weekend of every month at a time announced prior to the actual date.
Baptisms can also be scheduled on the fourth Sunday of every
month at 1:15 p.m. If for some reason another time must be
arranged, or if a visiting clergyman is requested, arrangements can
be made with one of the clergy staff.
Attendance at a baptismal preparation program is a necessary
requirement for infant baptism. Baptism classes are offered approximately every six weeks.
The
classes will be held on the following Wednesdays in the Cronin
Center at 7:00 p.m.
2010:
July 21
September 1
October 20
December 1
Parents are asked to register before attending the class.
Baptismal information folders are also available at the Welcome
Station or in the
bulletin board rack in the back of the church. Adults are received into the Church by either Baptism or the
Profession of Faith following completion of the RCIA (Rite of Christian
Initiation for Adults) process which provides instructions in the
faith of our Church. Click here for more information.
